What is climacteric?
Climacteric (menopause) is a period in which a contemporary woman spends approximately one third of her life. It arrives at the age of about 45 when the ovaria step by step cease to produce female sexual hormones (oestrogens and progestines) and is manifested by gradual loss of menstruation (menopause = the last menstruation). The period preceding the last menstruation is called premenopause and is characteristic by irregular menstruation cycles. The last menstruation is followed with a period of the so called postmenopause during which the ovaria gradually cease to produce oestrogens, namely until the age of about 60. Commencement of climacteric as well as the accompanying difficulties are individual and somewhat different with each woman. Climacteric can also be brought about artificially, regardless of a woman’s age, as a consequence of gynaecological operation during which the ovaria are removed. Dále je vhodný pro všechny ženy, které z jakéhokoliv důvodu odmítají nebo nemohou užívat hormonální léčbu (ženy s vysokým krevním tlakem, hlubokou žilní trombózou nebo křečovými žílami).Jak působí hlavní účinné látky GS Merilinu při dlouhodobém užívání?
GS Merilin is suited to subdue climacteric inconveniences (fits of heat, sweating, heartbeat, nervousness, irritability, concentration disorders, depressions, sleep disorders, headache and giddiness); at the same time it furnishes calcium and vitamin D3, both being very important during this period (an increased risk of osteoporosis – thinning of bones). GS Merilin is also suitable for women whose climacteric was brought about artificially, e.g. after a gynaecological operation during which the ovaria were removed, regardless of the woman’s age. Further it is suitable for all women who refuse or cannot use hormonal treatment on whatever ground (women suffering from hypertension, deep venous thrombosis or varices).How do the GS Merilin active ingredients operate when used for a long period?
GS Merilin contains a rootstock extract of the plant Cimicifuga racemosa; in relation to this plant a number of major clinical studies confirmed recently that it:
- significantly reduces fits of heat and increased sweating,
- operates against excessive irritation,
- soothes sleep disorders and problems with concentration,
- improves mental condition.
These effects are based on the content of active ingredients (glycosides and isoflavones) whose operation is similar to the effects of natural femal sexual hormones (oestrogens).
GS Merilin also contains calcium, the receipt of which ought to be sufficient during this period with regard to the risk of osteoporosis (thinning of bones), and vitamin D which is important for effective utilization of calcium contained in food.
How to use the GS Merilin preparation properly?
Use regularly 1 tablet daily. The tablets are to be taken in one piece, not bitten during or after the meal, and should be washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid). The recommended period of use is at least 2 months. The effect of GS Merilin can be expected after 2 – 4 weeks of use at the earliest.
A long-term use of this preparation is eligible.
Recommendtion: Do not forget to se your gynaecologist for preventive examinations in 6-month intervals.
Warning: GS Merilin may be used as an alternative to hormonal preparations, however simultaneous use of GS Merilin and hormonal preparations is not recommended!

- active ingredient – 1,66 mg of the extract of rootstock of the plant Cimicifuga racemosa (black cohosh) which corresponds to 20 mg of dried rootstock of this plant
- 250 mg of calcium
- 10 µg of vitamin D
